New Inflammation PET probe

Over the past 4 years, Juno Van Valkenburg and Marlon Duro synthesized 18-F Arachidonic Acid (AA) to image brain lipid inflammation in mice models of APOE4. This is a collaboration between my Lab and that of Kai Chen from the Department of Radiology, at Keck School of Medicine. The advantage of 18-F AA is its ability to translate to humans, allowing us to identify brain lipid inflammation in APOE4 carriers at risk of Alzheimer’s using PET scans. The image included here shows the dynamic uptake of 18-F AA in yellow-red at 25 and 45 minutes after injection. Our findings are now published in the PLEFA
